Coco has landed

My mom touched down in Hanoi this evening to join us for a month of traveling in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.  Coco is a seasoned traveler having joined both of her kids on their adventures starting with me in China in 1989 and followed by Ecuador, Malawi, Namibia, Botswana, Haiti and etc with Eva over the years.  We’re looking forward to sharing the adventures across three generation.  They started today with a visit to Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum.

  1. That’s great your mom is there and such an adventurer, she’s an inspiration and so are you all. Loving your pictures and posts. Life here is mostly virtual – our team won the Superbowl, very exciting game 34-31. And Downton Abbey season 3 is going just swimmingly. Margo and I will be leaving March 1st for Asheville and the UNC tour. If you are on Facebook, you’ll see my latest instrument, a gift from Bill. Will eventually embarrass Margo with it by buskering on the streets of Asheville some day, Bill on mandolin, me on accordion… Hugs and love to all,
    Beth

  2. Happy to hear you made it. All is well here on the mountain. -1 mouse in the house.
Looking forward to seeing and hearing more about your travels. So envious of you all.
    Enjoy!

  3. Coalter, Amy, Henry, Braxton, and Coco,
I am so glad to finally catch up on all your posts. I had almost given up on you. It sounds like you are having a great adventure. What kind of news do you get locally? Anything in English? Is there much emphasis on tension among Asian countries such as the contested islands in the South China Sea? What about conflicts within countries (e.g. Tibet, ethnic minorities, etc)?

We are looking forward to following your travels,
    Bill

  4. Hello World Travelers,

Would love to hear from Henry and Braxton. What’s the most disgusting thing you ate. How’s the quality of toilet paper. You know, the important stuff that only a young person can share honestly. FYI , we will be in Italy from May 16-30th. Flying into Rome and working north to Venice. It would be fantastic if our paths crossed.

    Love,

    Dan

Look forward to see g more posts and to see you when you finally land in Paris. In the meantime, I’m heading to San Jose this week and will give your best to the boys! Kate
